The mix of single level and double level commercial units on Portside Drive were designed and priced by NZCCL for local developer Dave Macfarlane. They were immediately snapped up by private owners who wanted a modern, low-maintenance commercial base in the heart of Mount Maunganui’s industrial area.

This high stud multi-unit development was then constructed within a tight 10-month timeframe which was compounded by lockdown interruptions. The units feature concrete and steel cladding and smart-looking aluminum joinery. Landscaping was also undertaken by NZCCL’s team to finish off the site.

Dave says he’s most pleased with the overall finish of the job at 76 Portside Drive. “Bevan does those little extra bits that other contractors wouldn’t do. He wants to drive past and say, ‘I built that’ and be proud of it, which he is. So he goes the extra mile.

“I enjoy working with Bevan, he knows his stuff. He’s a very good communicator so you know what’s happening all the time. If there’s any delay or problem, you’re informed about it so there’s no surprises at the end of the job. And if there’s a problem, he sorts it.”

Dave says NZCCL gives clients confidence they can deliver on any size project. “And they do deliver – typically on time, within budget and above your expectations.”

NZCCL is now doing another development for Dave at 6 Portside Drive, constructing seven industrial units. “Bevan is trustworthy, he delivers, and he does a quality job.”
