OUR TEAM

When only the best will do

Team culture is at the heart of NZCCL. Having the right people on the job – who genuinely enjoy what they do – is critical to delivering a successful project.

Our founder, Bevan Wood, is a vastly experienced quantity surveyor and a skillful draftsman. His ability to visualise a building’s aesthetic form and function while also balancing cost and construction efficiency, is what gives NZCCL its market edge. After developing initial concepts and pricing, our highly skilled team of engineers, draftsmen, architects, builders and landscapers take over. Their work ethic and can-do attitude is second-to-none.

We’re also privileged to work with the Bay’s leading suppliers and subcontractors. Together, we construct buildings that stand the test of time and can overcome any challenges along the way.

We are extremely proud of our loyal crew. They deliver for us time and again, and we are confident they can deliver for you too.

Owner & Director

Bevan Wood

From its inception in 2012, Bevan Wood has led New Zealand Commercial Construction Ltd (NZCCL) to become a highly successful and well-respected commercial construction company in the Bay of Plenty and beyond. NZCCL’s success has been driven by Bevan’s can-do attitude and hands-on approach from briefing through to project delivery. Focussed on delivering cost savings and maximum return, Bevan is highly regarded for his solutions-based approach and for developing methodologies for complex construction projects. With over 30 years’ experience in both commercial and residential construction, Bevan began his career as a quantity surveyor with Carters. At the very young age of 23, Bevan was keen to strike out on his own, starting up a quantity surveying business employing 13 employees in just six years. The entrepreneur then sold the business to partner with Big Shed Construction, until 2012, when he went on to establish NZCCL. The construction industry, an ever-changing and evolving landscape, requires lateral thinking, flexibility and a thorough appreciation of government regulations. An owner and operator who is passionate about construction, who lives and breathes the industry — Bevan is about making things happen. Through his wide network of industry contacts, combined with quantity surveying skills and years of experience, Bevan is about delivering successful projects on time and on budget, by developing solutions that benefit both the project and the client

Aaron Darwick – Foreman

Foreman

Aaron Darwick

Aaron has many years of varied commercial building experience. He maintains strong management of people. As an efficient multitasker, well organised, he’s able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Aaron will show leadership in getting your project done to the standard we agreed for your project — not on his own, rather, working as a team player.

As your foreman, he will always be on hand to act as your intermediary between the various parties. Aaron’s liaison aims to ensure that every element of your project is handled efficiently and to the highest standards — that all your needs are met.

When Aaron’s not working on your projects you will find him with his family, boating and … he does consider himself a rum drinking expert.

His ideas are well thought out to my ‘hair brain’ ideas. By the time the client and I may be made aware of a problem, it is generally not a problem as he usually has the resolution sorted. Aaron is able to logically think through a process with the uncanny ability to visualise things in 3D.

Aaron runs a very tight ship, with many work-faces open at any one time. When unforeseen snags on-site occur, such as inclement weather or waiting for a council inspection, there are other tasks opened up and planned. He maximises output keeping the projects on track and on time. Aaron is extremely diligent and has an absolute grasp of risk management; an expert at taking all practical steps to ensure we have a safe site at all times and everyone goes home at the end of the day.
